Honda wants you to feel more confident when you’re behind the wheel of their vehicles, which is why the carmaker offers the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies.* Since it comes standard on many vehicles – and available on all others – you get many systems that will help you be more aware of your surroundings. Here are the features that you receive with Honda Sensing® and how they work.
Collision Mitigation Braking System™
With the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), your Honda can detect potential front-end collisions that may occur ahead, whether it’s with cars, cyclists, or pedestrians. It uses a radar transmitter on the front of your vehicle’s grille to do so, reducing the chance of a frontal impact. When a potential collision is detected, the system sends visual and audio warnings to you, applying your vehicle’s brake if you don’t take note of these warnings.
Road Departure Mitigation System
Using a windshield-mounted camera, the Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) can detect road markings and keep your Honda centered in its lane. It’s able to identify multiple types of road markings, including yellow and white lines. This system works between 45 and 90 mph, giving you a visual cue and vibrating the steering wheel should you begin to drift from the lane. If you ignore those alerts, it will then sound an audio alert.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control works to keep a set distance between you and the car in front of you when you’re using cruise control. This means it will slow you down if the vehicle in front of you slows down, and increase your speed to the speed that is already set if it deems it safe to do so.
Lane Keeping Assist System
Keeping to the middle of your lane is simple with the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). Using the same windshield-mounted camera as the RDM system, this technology will center your vehicle if it senses you drifting to one side or the other.
Traffic Sign Recognition
Sometimes, it can be difficult to catch the speed limit sign as you’re driving along. The Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) system works to help you remember what the speed limit is, along with identifying other road signs your Honda passes on the go.

LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed, road conditions, and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. TSR cannot detect all traffic signs, may misidentify certain signs, and does not include any braking or speed control functions. Accuracy will vary based on weather and other factors.
